The resulting iron particles are uniform gray microscopic spheres and are ultra pure elemental iron with only traces of carbon, oxygen and nitrogen. Carbonyl iron powder also can be added with some other metal elements such as Mo, Ni etc.

Carbonyl Iron Powder (CIP)

Carbonyl iron powder (CIP) is produced by the chemical decomposition of iron pentacarbonyl. The resulting iron particles are uniform gray microscopic spheres and are ultra pure elemental iron with only traces of carbon, oxygen and nitrogen. Carbonyl iron powder also can be added with some other metal elements such as Mo, Ni etc.

CIP has fine particle size, spherical shape, high fluidity and sintering activity. It can be applied in MIM or PM or Diamond area with good mechanical properties. It also can be applied in magnetic area with very low hesteresis loss, suitable for manufacturing high-frequency iron powder core, magnetic conductive dielectric core and various soft magnetic materials.

CIP powder also has good wave absorption performance, wide absorption frequency can be used as external wave absorption coatings.

Carbonyl iron powder has good chemical activity and can be as chemical catalylst and also can be addiadded to food as iron supplement directly.

Nano carbonyl iron powder can be used as an injection iron supplement, and can also be used as a targeted material to treat tumors under the action of external magnetic field and drugs.

As per customer requirement, we developed some modified CIP powder, such as  FeNi2, FeNi4, FeNi8, FeNi50, FeNi2Mo0.5, FeNi8Mo0.5, 4605, 8740, 2700, 2200, 1010 etc.;The composition of carbon and oxygen can be adjusted as per customer requirement. The particle size of carbonyl powder can be D50=1-2um, 3-4um, 4-6um, 6-8um, 9-12um, 20-25um or as per customer’s needs.

HIP Technology
