Product Description

Scalmalloy aluminium alloy powder is a high-performance, scandium-reinforced aluminum
magnesium alloy, specifically engineered for additive manufacturing (AM).
Scalmalloy aluminium alloy is the first commercial aluminum alloy designed to rival titanium in
specific strength, offering a superior strength-to-weight ratio for lightweight applications.
During printing, Scandium forms nanoscale, fully coherent Al3Sc precipitates which are thermally
stable and act as powerful strengtheners, refining the grain structure without requiring rapid
quenching.
The Ultimate tensile strength (UTS) can reach 530MPa, and the yield strength around
480-520MPa after printing. Its density is approximately 2.7g/cc which is roughly 60% lighter than
titanium alloys.
Our Scalmalloy powder is produced by vacuum gas atomization process with excellent sphericity,
flowability and lower oxygen content which is ideal for additive manufacturing (3D printing).

HIP Technology

Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) technology works by placing the product in a closed container, filling it with inert gas and sintering or densifying the product at a very high temperature (usually close to the forging temperature of the material) and at a very high pressure (usually 100 – 140 MPa).
